This Tuna Broccoli Alfredo Casserole features tender pasta, flaky tuna, and vibrant broccoli, all coated in a creamy Alfredo sauce and topped with crispy breadcrumbs. It’s a comforting dish perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups uncooked pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 can (12 oz) tuna, drained and flaked
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets (or frozen, thawed)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the uncooked pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (about 8-10 minutes).
  2. In the last 3 minutes of cooking the pasta, add the broccoli florets to the pot. Drain the pasta and broccoli in a colander and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and stir well. Allow the cream to simmer gently for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Stir continuously until the cheeses melt and the sauce becomes creamy (about 3-5 minutes).
  6. Season the sauce with onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Adjust seasoning to taste.
  7. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, cooked pasta, and blanched broccoli. Gently fold in the creamy Alfredo sauce until well coated.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
  9. Transfer the tuna, pasta, and broccoli mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  10. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with a tablespoon of olive oil, mixing until evenly coated.
  11. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
  12. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbling.
  13. Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  14. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
  15. Pair with a simple side salad or crusty bread to soak up any extra sauce.
