Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher until smooth, leaving a few small chunks for texture if desired.
  3. Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  4. Stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until fully incorporated.
  5. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Gently fold in the flour, being careful not to overmix.
  8. Fold in the chocolate chips and maple syrup.
  9. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray, and optionally line the bottom with parchment paper.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, checking for doneness around the 55-minute mark with a toothpick.
  12. If the top browns too quickly, tent it with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
  13. Once baked, let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  14. Slice and serve warm with butter or maple syrup, or enjoy at room temperature.
  15. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
