Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher until smooth, leaving a few small chunks for texture if desired.
- Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
- Stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until fully incorporated.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir to combine.
- Gently fold in the flour, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and maple syrup.
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick cooking spray, and optionally line the bottom with parchment paper.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, checking for doneness around the 55-minute mark with a toothpick.
- If the top browns too quickly, tent it with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
- Once baked, let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve warm with butter or maple syrup, or enjoy at room temperature.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for up to a week, or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
