Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of salmon fillets, skin removed and cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1/2 cup of mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon of sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon of lime juice
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Cut the salmon fillets into bite-sized pieces, about 1 to 1.5 inches in size.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) to create a seasoned flour mixture.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs until well combined for the egg wash.
- In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
- Dip a piece of salmon into the seasoned flour, ensuring its fully coated. Shake off excess flour.
- Next, dip the floured salmon piece into the egg wash, allowing excess to drip off.
- Roll the salmon in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Place coated salmon bites on a plate and repeat with remaining pieces.
- In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.
- Carefully add salmon bites in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove salmon bites and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Continue frying remaining salmon bites, adjusting heat as necessary.
- In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice. Stir until well mixed.
- Adjust sriracha to taste for desired spiciness.
- Taste the sauce and adjust sweetness or heat as needed.
- Serve the crispy Bang Bang salmon bites with the Bang Bang sauce on the side for dipping.
- Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro.
Notes
- For a healthier option, you can bake the salmon bites in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Feel free to customize the Bang Bang sauce by adding more lime juice or sweet chili sauce according to your preference.
